About Poker Pursuit

Poker Pursuit is another one of Microgaming’s top video poker games. This poker game doesn’t really look that much different from their other video poker titles, but it does have some pretty appealing cash prizes. Probably the most unique thing about this game, is that it is played with just 3 cards to start off with, as opposed to the usual 5-card set-up that you are probably familiar with.

How to play

Despite its name and the tendency for players to imagine it being more complicated than standard video poker, it really isn’t. Poker Pursuit begins with the usual 5-card hand. Players will only be able to see three of their cards, though. If they wish to continue, they need to raise their stakes or call.

Calling will see one card turned over, and calling again will see the fifth card turned over. However, if you decide to raise, the bet is increased, and the amount you can win shifts over to the 2-coin or 3-coin tables.

Players are not able to switch cards in this poker game, so Poker Pursuit really is down to luck.

Wagering and prizes

Before you can play, you will need to place a bet. At its cheapest, you can play Poker Pursuit for just 0.50 a hand. Even if you want to push the boat out, Poker Pursuit will not cost you any more than 5.00 per hand. Naturally, though, if you decide to raise your bets, your stake will be increased as you play.

The lowest paying hand in Poker Pursuit is 10s or Better, which is worth 2 coins if you call. Should you raise once, that rises, to 4 coins, and up to 6 coins if you raise twice. 2 Pairs, 3 of a Kind, Straight, Flush, Full House, 4 of a Kind, and Straight Flush are also payable hands in this game. To win the big prize, you’ll need a Royal Flush, which is worth 1,000 coins on called stakes, 2,000 coins on a raised bet, and 3,000 coins on a twice-raised bet.

Final thoughts

Poker Pursuit is an interesting video poker variant, especially if you feel as though you have played video poker to death. Given the lack of ability to switch cards, you are really going to find Poker Pursuit a challenging title, and one which brings with it a great deal of excitement. This is a must play game, since most video poker games can grow dull the more you play them. That certainly isn’t the case with Poker Pursuit.
