About Loose Cannon

Loose Cannon is Microgaming’s take on the whole pirate crazy which is sweeping across the internet at this moment in time. If you’ve ever played the Monkey Island series of games, you will find quite a few similarities between this and that video game series. Loose Cannon is played over 243 paylines and 5 reels, but you aren’t going to be able to adjust those paylines. Coin sizes range from 0.01 up to 0.25, and players can bet up to 5 coins per spin. Wagers are going to stretch from 0.30 per spin up to 37.50 per spin, which is reasonable for a slot with this many paylines. Loose Cannon carries a non-progressive jackpot which is worth up to 750,000 coins in all, and that is certainly an appealing prospect if you like pirate themed video slots.

Special Features

Loose Cannon contains a Wild Cannon Bous, and that is triggered when a wild symbol appears on the third reel. Wild symbols take the shape of a pirate ship. When these symbols appear on that all-important central reel, they can replicate, creating an entirely stacked wild reel. The pirate ship can then fire cannonballs left and right onto other reels, turning additional symbols into wilds. Up to 15 symbols can be turned into wilds with this feature, with wilds capable of substituting for all other symbols barring scatters.

Free spin symbols take the shape of an Octopus sitting on a compass. When these symbols appear 3 times on the reels, players can pocket scattered wins. As well as scattered wins, landing these symbols 3 times on the first, third and fifth reels will trigger a free spins bonus round.

Bonus Feature

Players are guaranteed to start the free spins bonus feature with 15 free games, no matter how many free spin symbols they locate on the reels. The free spins bonus can also be retriggered with an additional 3 scatters. During the bonus round, it is possible to bag wins with combinations that run from right to left, as well as left to right.

The free spins round can also see wilds appear on the reels, so you have just as much a chance of bagging decent wins on the reels with wilds in this free spin feature as you do with the base game. That’s rather important, as it isn’t always the case with Microgaming slots.
