About Hansel and Gretel

Hansel and Gretel is a very child-friendly slot machine game (if there was such a thing) from Red Rake Gaming. Unfortunately, this slot is rather poor in terms of graphics, which doesn’t do the slot justice, because the basic premise of the game and the type of images which complement is theme is a well-thought out idea. The slot machine game features 5 reels and 20 paylines, but players cannot really alter the paylines, and they only have marginal room to alter their bets. Those bets range from a floor of 200 coins per spin, up to 100,000 coins. The game doesn’t feature standard real currency bets, just coin bets. This can be quite problematic since it doesn’t really allow players full insight into just how much they are wagering per spin. For the sake of argument, bets range from 0.20 per spin, up to 100.00 per spin. The top prize in the game is worth around 1,000 coins and is yours if you can land 5 wild symbols on a payline.

Special Features

Wild symbols appear as a various assortment of candy. These symbols can substitute for most other symbols in the game (although not all of them) and as we’ve said, they can result in the best-paying prizes being paid out if 5 appear on a payline.

Any winning symbols which appear in combinations will be removed from the reels, and new ones will drop down to replace them. This is known as the avalanche or cascading reel feature, and can see players bag multiple wins on each spin, in theory.

If 3 of the slots bonus icons appear on the second, third and fourth reels, a bonus stage will begin.

Bonus Feature

Hansel and Gretel’s bonus round offers a total of 5 free spins. During those spins, you can bag more spins if you land more bonus icons on the reels. All the bonus icons become scatters in this round, meaning that you do not need them to appear on paylines to pocket prizes with the symbols.

Despite all its niceties, the shoddy graphics and the relatively fiddly wagering range kind of put the dampers on what could have been a really good slot for Red Rake Gaming.
