About Blockbusters
OpenBet’s Blockbusters is a game that is based on a retro television game show. Developed by Electracade and popular at UK casinos, it is one of many such titles found under the Scientific Games (SG) banner at sites. There’s no Bob Holness to entertain you here, but the reels do mimic the famous game board, and a handful of the features could potentially be deemed to be thematic. The slot itself has five reels (each with three rows of symbols), and fifteen paylines run across them. Blockbusters costs the punter at least 0.05 per spin, but stakes can rise to 50.00 a turn in all. With a bit of luck, you could be walking away with a non-progressive jackpot that is worth a cool 12,500 coins. The one thing we would really want to see in this game is a wealth of special features, but unfortunately, this is not something that OpenBet’s Blockbusters really delivers, as you will see.
Special Features
A wild symbol can appear on the reels of the Blockbusters slot, but not all of them. It only springs up on the second, third, fourth and fifth reels. Fortunately, the wilds replace all standard paying icons in Blockbusters. If a wild features in (or has the potential to feature in) a winning combination, it will expand to cover the entire reels, prompting a decent win to be paid out.
The only other bonus feature is triggerable via scatter symbols. You’ll need three of these to appear on the reels. What follows is not the most exciting bonus round of all time. In fact, it is mundane stuff and consists of nothing more than a quick click and win round.
Bonus Feature
Having landing at least three scatters on the reels, you will trigger a click and win mode. There is nothing to write home about here. The bonus lets you choose from various “pick” elements on the screen to reveal a cash prize. The better your picks, the better the prizes will be. Ultimately, this isn’t much of an interesting feature.
Blockbusters doesn’t feel as though it lives up to its name. This was a classic game show back in its day, and SG/OpenBet seem to have missed an opportunity to really honour its memory with a wealth of fun-filled features. They just don’t seem to appear in this relatively dull game show inspired slot.
