About Craps
Craps' history, like that of many other historical casino games, is a jumble of hypotheses about where the game came from, making it difficult to pinpoint its true origin. Craps is a game that has evolved over time and has elements of all of these popular beliefs. According to some interpretations, the game is based on the Old English game Hazard and the French game Crabes.
Around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, a Louisiana gambler and politician named Bernard Xavier Phillipe introduced the game to New Orleans. This version of the game, however, had a flaw in that it was readily manipulated, allowing players to cheat by using fixed dice to alter the changes in their favor. In 1907, John H. Winn devised an upgraded version of the dice game that featured a "don't pass bet" section, making it more like modern Craps and removing the fixed dice issue.
Special Features
The "don't passline" bet is just the opposite of the "passline" bet, in that it bets against the dice. Don't passline bets are referred to as "betting wrong" by some Craps players, whereas passline bets are referred to as "betting correctly." A passline bet is a wager that you will roll a 7 or 11 on the initial roll, resulting in a win on that bet.
A don't passline bet, on the other hand, is a wager on a 2, 3, or 12 being rolled. A winning don't passline bet on a come out roll will double your wager. If any other number is rolled, it will be the point; however, you must hope that the point is not rolled again before a 7. They don't passline bets win if a 7 is rolled.
