About Tens or Better: Power Poker

Tens or Better: Power Poker is one of the many Microgaming video poker variants to exist in the online casino world. As a game, it is of course closely based on the basic Microgaming Tens or Better poker game. There is a twist in this game, though, which may make it slightly more appealing to you than your run-of-the-mill, basic 10s or better video poker game.

How to play

Players will be able to alter their bets at the bottom of the screen. The player will receive a total of 5 cards after doing so. This is known as the decision hand. Players will get to decide which cards they wish to keep and which they wish to dispose of.

After doing so, four new hands will appear, each with five cards. New cards will then replace the empty spaces in the hands. This makes up a total of 5 poker hands. All 5 of those pocket hands will then be checked to see if any of them match the hands on the paytable. If they do, you will pocket a respective pay-out from the paytable. You can opt to gamble your winnings in a simple double up game, or simply collect them right away.

Wagering and prizes

In Tens or Better: Power Poker, players can choose coin values which range from 0.25 up to 5.00. You will have to wager on all 5 hands in this game but you can wager between 1 and 5 coins per hand, meaning that at its cheapest the video poker game costs 1.25 a pop. At its most expensive, you’re looking at a maximum wager of 100.00 per hand. Such high limits are seldom found in video poker games.

For your troubles, you can win as much as 4,000 coins if you land a Royal Flush. Other paying hands in Tens or Better: Power Poker include a Straight Flush, 4 of a Kind, Full House, Flush, Straight, 3 of a Kind, Two Pair and Tens or Better.

Final thoughts

Tens or Better: Power Poker is an interesting take on traditional Tens or Better video poker. In all honesty, this video poker game can be quite costly to play, although if you win on all five poker hands, you are going to get more than fair rewards for your efforts. Again, that is if you win.
