GOLD MINE

About Gold Mine

Gold Mine is the creation of software developer Microgaming. They have taken a classic setup and transformed it into something that offers a different perspective on simple slot machines. It has familiar signs like lemons, oranges, cherries, watermelons and gold bars simply sticking to tried and tested formulas. To uncomplicate things there are only three reels and one pay line and who could ask for more?

The background reminds one of the high market saloons of the old Wild West, which may be where the lucky miners paid a visit too after striking it rich. On the right side is a table showing off all the available winning combinations. Coins can be bet in increments from £0.20 - £10.00 and there is no auto play feature. Following the simpler game mechanics there are also no Free Spins and no Progressive jackpots to be won and there isn’t a wild to be seen anywhere either.

Special Features

So you may ask, isn’t this slot boring? Not by a long shot due to the way prizes are awarded and through some unexpected mechanics of the game.

For starters have three of the sticks of dynamite on the paying line and you have the opportunity to randomly select multiplier and therefore boost your win.

Nudges and Holds hold mechanic: nudging allows a players to slightly shift a reel up or down to move a symbol onto the center line while Holding places a symbol on standby while the rest spin to greatly increase the chance at a combo you want. Both these mechanics can be done automatically by the computer and often with greater results.

There’s a mini game to select between three mine shafts exposing nine gold nuggets. By selecting nuggets more prizes are accumulated and this occurs when three Gold Mine symbols are in view.

Finally miner symbols will activate a choosing game where several objects will appear and it’s up to you to decide which one will be the lucky break. Each one is guaranteed a prize, the size is dependent on the luck of the draw.

Bonus Feature

There are coins with the word BONUS on them. When showing up on the middle each one awards Bonus Points with the more coins that appear the higher the number of points. These points are tallied on the top left corner and can be spent on the Super Game by pressing the ‘Change Game’ button underneath the reels. In the end, the more coins you earn means the more bonuses can be achieved for simple victories!
