THE GOLDEN OWL OF ATHENA

About The Golden Owl of Athena

Ancient Greece-themed slots always tend to be popular in the online casino world. Other developers are going to have their work cut out if they wish to challenge the dominance of Playtech’s Age of Gods series, but BetSoft Gaming are having a crack at it with their Golden Owl of Athena slot. This Greek mythology-themed slot features plenty of animated, thematic imagery and comes with 5 reels and just 10 paylines spread over its reels. The slot does permit a margin of flexibility when it comes to bets. Line bets range from 0.01 up to 1.00, and this means that the slot features a floor bet of 0.10 per spin, and a ceiling bet of 10.00 a game. It is possible for players to win as much as 5,000 coins in this game. That non-progressive jackpot is only when if players land 5 Athena icons on any payline in the video slot.

Special Features

Free spin symbols appear as the titular golden owl, and these can dish out free spins when 3 or more of them appear anywhere on the reels during a base game spin. There are wilds, too, although these are really only prevalent during the free spin bonus, which we will come to in just a second.

Players will find a secondary bonus (of sorts) in this slot. It is a double up gamble game. It can be triggered following any win. Players can choose to flip a coin to potentially double their winnings. Guess incorrectly, though, and you will lose any winnings you decide to gamble in what is essentially a basic and simplistic gamble feature. We wouldn’t really advise players to use this feature with any significant wins, although it can come in handy if you’ve just acquired a so-so win that you’re not too fussed about potentially losing.

Bonus Feature

Players will start off with a total of 8, 12 or 20 free spins, depending on whether they landed 3, 4 or 5 golden owl scatters on the reels of the base game. During the free spin bonus round, the scatter becomes a wild symbol, helping players land decent wins on the reels. Another nifty feature during this bonus will see a symbol chosen at random to expand on the reels whenever it appears.
