About Pompeii The Video Slot

The tale of the city of Pompeii is legend, and Aristocrat gaming has captured the theme in this five reel video slot that offers 243 ways to win that are combined and then added together. Although this is by no means a progressive jackpot slot, it does offer a top base game prize of 12 500 coins for a top wager. It is a typically Vegas styled video slot which is not surprising from the developer which is USA based. We find that European gaming designers tend to be a great deal more creative when designing these games.

Special Features

Graphically speaking, Pompeii we feel could have been crafted in a much more spectacular way when giving some thought to how dramatic this theme actually is. But if it is practical slot playing that is all that’s required, and not special effects in design, then we suppose it just about passes muster. Personally speaking we prefer a little more to look at, and a lot less boring design, regardless of game play.

It offers icons that are in theme, but are basic illustration without a lot of thought put into them. Reels are set into a classic roman temple type background, and they spin across a green mosaic background. These are some sort of medal, the volcano – Vesuvius – which is wild, a soldiers plumed helmet, shield and sword, coin from Pompeii, horse and chariot, then, card indices Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten and Nine.

Pompeii features a user interface that allows players to choose their own coin denomination. This commences at a value of 0.02, and increases through various options up to 1.00. Players are also allowed to choose how many credits per spin to spend, so, if a coin size of 1.00 is being used, and player chooses fifty credits per spin, the wager costs 50.00. This may be increased up to a maximum wager of 125.00. That is 125 credits per spin, and all really relatively straight forward.

Bonus Features

The bonus game is a free spins feature which triggers when the gold Pompeii coin lands on the lines. This is the scatter icon, so, three or more of these have to land on the lines to trigger the feature. Land three for ten free spins, four for fifteen free spins and five icons to get twenty games free. This bonus game can be re-triggered and apparently does so, quite spectacularly at times.
