About Book of Merlin

There are more than a few “book-themed” slots out there for you to play on the net. Book of Merlin is 1x2 Gaming’s take on the slot genre, and naturally, this game looks at Arthurian legend. It does so via a 5-reel, 10-line slot gaming platform, and one which naturally brings with it cheap and affordable stakes. These wagers can range from 0.10 per spin up to 50.00 a game and comes with a non-progressive jackpot which is capped at 5,000x a bet. This is not an ordinary Merlin-themed slot, though. Instead, it is a bit wacky, with the “magic” aspect of the game focusing on potions, powers and spells from a bubbling laboratory. This helps Book of Merlin stand out from the many other similarly themed games out there on the net.

Special Features

Book of Merlin has special features for players to take advantage of. These include a wild symbol in the shape of a book of spells. This icon can substitute for all other symbols in the game. Being a wild is not the only feature this symbol has. It is known as a scatter wild, as it doubles up for this type of slot symbol, too. Scatter wilds appearing on the reels three times at once will trigger a free spin bonus round. This free spin bonus is the only other feature to make an appearance in the Book of Merlin slot, so players should hope to strike it lucky once the bonus is triggered.

Bonus Feature

Players will always receive 10 free spins in this bonus round. It doesn’t matter how many scatters you manage to throw together on the reels; ten free spins are all you’re going to get, at least to start off with. Once the bonus begins, a symbol will be chosen at random, and whenever that symbol appears on the reels, it can expand to cover an entire reel. This is a feature we’ve seen time and time again in “book” slots, and it all started with Novomatic’s Book of Ra. That expanding icon can be anything save for the scatter wild. Players do have the option of potentially landing another 10 spins, by retriggering the bonus with scatters wilds.

The lack of features in Book of Merlin is perfectly in line with other “book” slots out there on the net. However, most players will surely have been expecting at least one other bonus to be included here.
