About Book of Atem
Players do not have to travel very far to find a wealth of Ancient Egyptian-themed slots on the net. Almost every slot provider has one or two to offer, and Book of Atem is All41Studios’ own take on the genre. The slot machine was unveiled in January 2020 and comes packing 5 reels, 10 lines and some rather basic, albeit nice looking imagery. The gameplay in this release is a touch on the limited site, as you would expect with such a fledgeling developer as this. Despite stakes only costing between 0.10 and 25.00 a spin, players can try and net a top prize worth a non-progressive 125,000 coins in this release. The gameplay is medium variance in nature, and there is an RTP rate of 96.45% in this slot, which is decent, to say the least.
Special Features
Where Book of Atem tends to come a bit unstuck is in the features department. The game is very much based on the Book of Ra, Book of Pharaoh and other “book slots” which have come before it. It would not be unreasonable to claim that Book of Atem is a clone of these games in many ways.
There is a scatter wild in play, as you would expect, and it is the titular Book of Atem. This symbol can replace any others you may need it to, to bag a win on the game. It can also trigger a free spin bonus should it appear three or more times on the reels. Again, this is identical to the way that bonuses are triggered in Novomatic’s Book of Ra and other such slots.
Bonus Feature
Once the scatter wild appears three or more times on the reels, the free spin bonus kicks into gear. It initially promises a total of 10 free spins. The game will also select one of its symbols to appear as an expanding icon. It will do this randomly, so you have no choice in which symbol is selected. You can only hope that it is one of the better-paying ones. Whenever this symbol lands on the reels and has the potential to appear in a winning combo, it will expand to cover the entire reel. Players can win additional free spins by landing more scatter wilds on the reels, but oddly enough this doesn’t seem to happen very often.
