About Age of Privateers

Novomatic’s Age of Privateers is a pirate-themed slot and one which is played over 5 reels and 50 lines. There is a lot of competition out there in this genre, so Novomatic must deliver something special if they are going to convince players to part with stakes costing at least 0.50 (up to 100.00 a turn) here. Fortunately, the inclusion of a progressive jackpot is just what many of us will want to see. Age of Privateers also comes sporting a few special features which spice up gameplay. Even if you do not manage to land a progressive prize, the non-progressive haul of 1,300x a bet is not to be sniffed at in this game. However, while the RTP is decent, we are not fans of the variance here. Age of Privateers is an extraordinarily highly volatile release for Novomatic. In short, while the prizes are extravagant, do not expect to land them often.

Special Features

There are lots of beige and boring symbols in this release, and these do not really help to push the pirate or privateer theme that Novomatic is aiming for. However, one symbol worth keeping an eye out for is the captain. This symbol is a wild icon and can dish out wins as well as substitute for all others bar the scatter.

The captain comes in handy for other things, too. The symbol can appear stacked on the reels. If you land him covering the reels (in all twenty spots), you can win the top prize. However, you will also need to have the maximum stake selected, which is incredibly costly. That will not delight fans.

Scatters appear as the ship’s wheel. Three or more are all it takes to trigger the slot’s free spin round. With that in mind, let us check out this feature next.

Bonus Feature

Three or more scatters need to appear on the reels to trigger Age of Privateers free spin round. This consists of twelve free games. During the bonus round, you can pocket a 4x multiplier on anything you win. It is worth noting that if you land three more scatters while the round is in play, you will land an additional twelve spins to add to your tally. You can only retrigger the round once, meaning that you can play with a maximum of 24 spins and a 4x multiplier in Age of Privateers’ free spin bonus.
