About Barcrest
Barcrest is one of the oldest casino software providers going. They first appeared back in 1968, developing a range of arcade games for smaller scale gambling venues. In 1998, they were snapped up by the big dog of the land-based casino world, IGT. They gradually brought Barcrest games to the online casino world and started to developed games for internet based casinos. In 2011, Barcrest was bought from IGT by Scientific Games and forms an important cog in the engine that is SG. Today, Barcrest has ceased work on land-based casino games and focuses mainly on their online offerings.
Online casino games
Barcrest’s games tend to be fairly straight forward affairs. There aren’t too many non-slot related games out there on the net, with the vast majority of their games (as few as there are) being simply, 5-reel video slots. The biggest hit for Barcrest in their years as a slot developer has been Rainbow Riches and a number of sequels which have been developed to compliment that original and legendary slot machine game.
Barcrest doesn’t quite have the clout to run their own casino sites, but their software is often found bundled at other casinos powered by rival developers. The gaming software provider simply doesn’t have a large enough library to take over operations and supply a casino with games all on its lonesome.
Most Barcrest slots feature limited scatters and wilds, and have very basic features. Some of their more popular slot machine games include Cashino, Monopoly Big Event, Ooh Aah Dracula, Rainbow Riches (and its sequels, such as Rainbow Riches: Pick n Mix), Thai Flower, Wild Knights, and more.
Top casinos running Barcrest software
As we’ve mentioned, Barcrest simply isn’t a big enough operation to be able to run a casino site solely on their power alone. They do not have a large enough selection of games, they don’t have the back-office tech, and they only dabble in slots, so table games would be out of the question.
A number of top casinos have still decided to incorporate Barcrest slots into their casino sites, though, often alongside other Scientific Gaming companies, such as WMS Gaming, and Bally Tech. Big casinos where you can find Barcrest slot machines include DrueckGlueck, Kerching Casino, Paddy Power Casino, Play OJO, Sky Vegas Casino, and Wixstars Casino. Barcrest slots such as Rainbow Riches tend to very well at bingo sites, so these could also be avenues worth exploring if you wish to play big Barcrest slots.
