About Apocalypse Cow
Microgaming’s Apocalypse Cow is one of their older, most imaginative slot games. It is a crazy-themed game, loosely based on the film, Apocalypse Now, and, well, dairy cows. The slot is played over three classic reels, so do not expect much in the way of special features or goodies here. Having a crack at the 3-reel, single-line slot will cost at least 0.10, and that may seem a bit costly for some lovers of fruit machines. On the upside, the maximum stake is only 10.00 a turn, which is affordable for players who like to spend a bit more than others. A top prize is worth 500x a bet, or 5,000 credits in total if you are playing with the maximum stake. Of course, that win is non-progressive, as you would expect.
Special Features
Apocalypse Cow does not have much in the way of special features, as mentioned. However, the same is true of virtually most classic slot games. You have got your usual array of bars and sevens, lemons, cherries, and other fruit symbols, but there are no wild symbols or scatters to help you win. Moreover, you cannot expect to see any bonus rounds, either. This means that there is no free spin round, instant win feature or anything else.
It is worth pointing out that, like the classic slots of yesteryear, there is a Hold and Nudge mode, though, so we may as well look at that next in this review.
Bonus Feature
The Hold and Nudge mode can be triggered when you believe you have got a shot of landing a win, and the game agrees. It allows you to hold one of the game’s three reels and then nudge the others down in a bid to help you land a winning combo. It can help you get closer to the non-progressive prize of 500x a bet but do not expect it to be a huge help. It certainly will not be prolific in aiding you land top wins. As such, Apocalypse Cow is more down to luck than most other slots you can find at Microgaming and Quickfire powered casinos.
