About Kings or Better

Kings or Better is Play ‘N Go’s version of Jacks or Better. The biggest difference, as you can tell, is that the player must have a pair of Kings or more, in order to win a prize. Now you may think that makes it more challenging to win? Kings are two cards higher than Jacks, after all. But does it? Not really. There are the same number of Kings as there are Jacks in the deck, and your chances of landing them are just as likely. So surely other than a title change, there’s little difference between the two games?

How to play

Well, even that that is not entirely accurate. Kings or Better actually contains wilds. This means that hands such as 5 of a Kind, and Wild Royal Flush can also be obtained. Normally, when a title contains wilds, they lowest paying hand is a 3 of a Kind. However, the lowest paying hands here are 2 Pairs and Kings or Better, so you’ve got a real chance of winning.

After the bet has been staked, the video poker game is played like all others. You have five cards which you can decide to hold or drop. Once the second set of cards is up on the screen, your hand will be compared against the pay table, to see if it is a winning one.

Wagering and prizes

Now, your coin values range from 0.25 up to 5.00 in total in this game. Players can then decide to opt to wager anything from 1 to 5 of these coins per hand. The more coins they bet, the more they can win from the pay table. The minimum wager per hand is only 0.25, whilst the maximum bet per hand is fixed at 25.00.

As we’ve said, there are some weird hands that you can win on in this game, thanks to the wild. Kings or Better is the lowest hand, followed by 2 Pairs, 3 of a Kind, Straight, Flush, Full House, 4 of a Kind, Straight Flush, Wild Royal Flush and a 5 of a Kind. The natural Royal Flush is the best paying hand, and is worth 4,000 coins for a win with the maximum wager staked.

Final thoughts

We really like the idea of being able to play with wilds, and still pull off wins with low ranking hands. You know that you are never going to win much, but with just a pair of Kings, you’re going to get your money back at least.
