10's Or Better Video Poker Review
About 10's Or Better Video Poker
For many years, the standard game in video poker was “Jacks or Better,” which meant that you had to have at least a pair of Jacks in your hand to collect. But a newer version of the game has lessened the standard slightly. “10's Or Better” video poker is produced by Playtech Gaming and is available in the many online casinos that use Playtech software. Since you only need a pair of tens to win in this version, you will collect more often.
Features
If you're familiar with video poker, you know that once you hit the DEAL button, five cards come on the screen to form your hand. You then have the option to hold or discard each one of them. If you have a winning hand, the machine will show that to you and indicate the cards you should be holding.
Besides the cards, the screen shows you how big your bet is and how many credits you have remaining. The menu of payouts is also always present.
Object
In video poker, there is always going to be a trade-off when you are given something extra. It's true that in 10's or Better, you will collect more often because you have an extra hand-a pair of tens-which wins. But the payoffs for better hands have been lessened. The standard return in a Jacks or Better game for a flush is 6 coins, for a full house it is 9 coins and for four-of-a-kind it is 25 coins for each coin wagered.. But in 10's or Better, a flush returns only 5 coins, not 6, a full house only returns 6 coins instead of 9 and four-of-a-kind returns just 20 coins, not 25.
If you're going to play the 10's or Better version of video poker, you need to get as many returns as possible. The best strategy is to avoid being too daring. Do not fold a winning hand to attempt to get a giant hand. The payoffs on the betting menu do not offer sufficient reward to merit such risks.
Special Features
One additional feature offered in Tens or Better is a chance to “Double Up” after a winning hand. This is one of the best bets in an online casino because it pays full value. Your chances of winning are even money and so is the payoff.
